COFFEE CONSUMPTION CONUNDRUM

Coffee is great.

But what happens when it's at a price?

I, like many other people I know, have spent most of my life thinking takeaway coffee cups are recyclable.

I had no problem moseying on up to my local bearded barista and ordering a soy cap to go. I will admit there is something peaceful about ordering coffee and walking away with a little nugget of caffeine goodness, and all its false promises to make life more productive.

Needless to say when I found out paper coffee cups are not recyclable, due to a thin plastic coating or lining inside, I freaked out. And with good reason.

Australians consume 50,000 takeaway coffees every 30 minutes.

Craig Reucassel is on a mission to change the way individuals consume their “morning joe”.

It can be difficult to imagine what 50,000 coffee cups would look like, so Reucassel has done the hard work for us. Reucassell filled an entire Melbourne tram with used coffee cups, to highlight how many coffee are going into landfill every half an hour.

That's a lot of waste!

We need to Rethink the way we consume our coffee. Products such as KeepCups and Frank Green Smart Cup are great alternatives to takeaway coffee cups.

Keep Cup  |  $24.50

So don't break up with your barista!

Instead Rethink your choices and go green by using an environmentally friendly resource ~

Your wallet will thank you too, as some places give discounts and incentives to people who byo cups.
